Knock Knock. P2 theme testing
Soon.
Today onwards heimoi is moving from private to public beta. After 6 months of private beta it was due time to be more public in building and providing the best local experience.
This is a silent launch. More noise to come.
Changes done with a slight delay due watching World Cup final (congratulations Spain!).
Featuring:
With midsummer behind I’ve been working on the next version of heimoi by concentrating on location, style and usability. Upcoming features will improve the “feeling” of the site with precision touches to CSS, annotate everything with geo-location, display activity around the user’s location (“nearby”) and especially improve upon the flow of the current input-system and dashboard.
ETA asap.
The latest heimoi is fresh out of the open. Invites sent!
Old registrations had to be wiped out due painfully incompatible changes in the database-schema. It’s still beta for a reason!
More invites have been sent. The feedback from the small group of beta testers has already been enough to keep me busy, making me ease the door on invites slowly.
Among the noticeable improvements:
Improved dashboard: slimmer, more descriptive, better linked to get you from A to B to C to Texas to A to D back to A.
Vappu will slow updates down some, but rest assured the best is to come. There’s a lot of untapped potential and uncovered features. Aim is to get the small irritating things fixed first before moving on.
Are you beta testing the best local communication service yet?
Nothing blew up. How unexciting! However, everyone did end up in Kallio, Helsinki on registration. Oops!
A sizeable proportion of the feedback craved for better instructions+navigation for the first-time user. This is being improved.
More invites will be sent this evening as fixes addressing most of the feedback will be in place.
It’s time to start shaking the heimoi foundation for good! Invites are being sent tonight onwards for those whom signed up on our beta-tester list.
